Pope Francis invites all youth to come to World Youth Day in Lisbon, August 2023. World Youth Day (WYD) is the largest youth event in the world. Every three years hundreds of thousands of young people, sometimes millions, from around the world come together to discover and celebrate the Catholic faith. Join young people from the Dioceses of Breda, Roermond, Rotterdam and Utrecht on their journey, called “Alegria! Arise and go”. There’s an English folder available; click below to download.
World Youth Day (WYD) is the largest youth event in the world. Hundreds of thousands of young people, sometimes millions, from around the world come together to discover and celebrate the Catholic faith. In 2023, World Youth Day will be in Lisbon. Along the way, you will discover how young people in other countries live and believe. You will experience that you are not the only one who goes to church. You will learn and discuss with others about the WYD theme led by the Dutch bishops and there is a festival where you will meet young people from many different countries. The pope comes to WYD and his arrival is always a highlight. Being with so many young people gives a boost to your own faith. The pope encourages you to return home making your own life a witness to Christ.)
Dear Pelgrim!
For English speaking youth (<30) in the Netherlands we have a subgroup as part of our trip so we can offer translation when needed. You will travel with the Archdiocese of Utrecht and dioceses Rotterdam, Breda en Roermond. The Diocese of Parimaribo will also join us, which gives our group an international colour from the beginning! Feel welcome to join and see the beautiful places Paris, Lourdes en Fatima for yourself! If you want to travel with us, please take up contact with Sarah Mijhad, our coordinator at jongerenpastoraat@aartsbisdom.nl and after this you can register at huisvoordepelgrim.nl. Hope to see you soon!
